Drivers using roads across Epping Forest may face some disruption to their journeys due to temporary closures for roadworks, starting from Monday.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details plans to close the roads in Ongar, Roydon and a near month-long programme of works in North Weald Bassett.

The dates of all works may vary with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on the one.network website.

Part of Toot Hill Road, Ongar, is due to be closed for three days from Monday while new water connection works are carried out.

The road is set to be shut to vehicles from a point approximately 100m south-west of its junction with Greensted Road for a distance of approximately 180m in a south-westerly direction.

The alternative route will be via Toot Hill Road, Mill Lane, Mutton Row, Drapers Corner, Greensted Road and vice versa.

A section of Hamlet Hill, Roydon, is set to be shut for one day on September 12 to enable overhead works to take place.

The closure is scheduled to be in place from the junction with Barn Hill for a distance of approximately 95m in a north-easterly direction.

The diversion will be via Hamlet Hill, Tylers Road, Epping Road roundabout, Epping Road, Common Road, Nazeing Common, Middle Street, North Street, Pecks Hill, Sage Green, Hamlet Hill and vice versa.

Foster Street, North Weald Bassett, is set to be shut for a total of 28 days from September 13 for cable installation works.

However, these works will be undertaken in three phases as follows:

That length of Foster Street from its junction with Green Lane for a distance of approximately 205m in a north-easterly direction – from September 13 to September 17.

That length of Foster Street from a point approximately 205m south-west of its junction with Green Lane for a distance of approximately 205m in a south-westerly direction – from September 20 to September 24.

That length of Foster Street from a point approximately 100m north-west of its junction with Greenways for a distance of approximately 115m in a north-westerly direction – from September 27 to October 10.

For the first phase of the works, the diversion will be via Green Lane, Hobbs Cross Road and vice versa.

The alternative route for phases two and three will be via Green Lane, Threshers Bush, Tilegate Road, Hastingwood Road, Mill Street and vice versa.
