Sixth-formers across the country have received their A-level results, which have been determined by teachers after this summer’s exams were cancelled.

Several schools in Enfield highlighted the achievements of their students, with head teachers also praising their efforts following results day on August 10.

The Oasis Academy in Enfield said many students “achieved superb individual results due to their hard work and dedication throughout their school and the last two years”.

Chantel Nmezu was the highest achieving student, gaining As in French and film and a B in art. She is off to the University of Kent to study international business with a year abroad.

Anthony Williams, principal at Oasis Academy Enfield said: “This year’s results day has been very different to previous celebrations, it’s great to be here today to mark the individual achievements of our young people.”

St Andrew the Apostle School also celebrated “outstanding” results achieved by A-level students this year.

A total of 25 per cent of all grades awarded were A*/A whilst 54 per cent of all grades awarded were A*/A/B.

Head teacher Indira Warwick said: “It is a privilege to see how well our Year 13 students have done- they thoroughly deserve every happiness.”

Meanwhile, at least 10 students at the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham (LAET) have been offered places at Oxford or Cambridge Universities.

In total, 75 per cent of students have won places at Russell Group Universities – up from 66 per cent in 2020.

Jan Balon, head teacher at LAET, said: “After such a challenging time for us all, we’re delighted that so many LAET students will be heading to elite universities.”

Sixth formers from the Alyward Academy also celebrated their results on Tuesday - it said a high number of students secured A*s and A grades in the majority of their subjects.

Ayub Elmi is going to study computer science and mathematics with a year abroad and Lena Mustafa-Mohammad will be studying aerospace engineering with industrial experience at Queen Mary University.

Head teacher Remo Iafrate said: “Congratulations to all of our students on their fantastic results.

"Our students have responded to the challenges of the past few months, with determination, compassion and patience. Whether they are going onto university, high-quality vocational courses, or employment, I am confident that they will continue to make us proud.”
