Police have targeted dangerous drivers causing mayhem in a supermarket car park in New Malden.

Officers have confirmed they have issued a number of Section 59 notices to car owners in Tesco car park.

A Section 59 is a written warning issued by police officers to people suspected of riding or driving recklessly.

The warning allows police to seize a vehicle if the driver continues to display anti-social behaviour.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: "After numerous reports of reckless and dangerous driving in the Tesco Car Park, New Malden, West Barnes neighbourhood policing team collected hundreds of photos and video clips of vehicles involved.

"To date they have issued 23 Section 59 notices to the offending owners and their vehicles.

"If these vehicles are involved in committing further offences or if the individuals use them to act in an anti-social manner then this warning allows us to seize the vehicle and the driver could be prosecuted.

"We continue to work with Tesco & Merton Council on this matter.
