Roads across Epping Forest are set to be temporarily closed for roadworks, starting from next week.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details the extent of the closures and other restrictions that may be implemented while the works are carried out.

Part of New Road, Lambourne, is due to be closed for three days from Tuesday to enable a water main to be repaired.

The closure will be in place from approximately 240m north-west from its junction with Manor Road for a distance of approximately 110m in a north-westerly direction.

The diversion will be via New Road, Hoe Lane, Manor Road and vice versa.

The following day a section of High Lane, Matching, is set to be closed for one day while pole testing works are carried out.

The road will be closed 50m north-west of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a westerly direction, and an alternative route will be via High Lane, Church Lane and vice versa.

A five-day closure of a section of Upland Road, Epping Upland, is due to start on August 12 to allow new joint box installation works to take place.

This will affect the road from approximately 1250m south-west of its junction with High Road for a distance of approximately 55m in a south-westerly direction.

Motorists are advised to use Epping Road, Lindsey Street, Maltings Lane, Palmers Hill, Thornwood Road, High Road and vice versa instead.

The county council is also seeking to make orders to temporarily close roads elsewhere in the district.

Hoe Lane, Nazeing, is set to be shut to vehicles for seven days from August 17 to allow new power connection works to take place.

This closure is due to be in place from 275m north-west of the junction with Betts Lane for a distance of approximately 80m in a north-westerly direction.

The diversion will be via Hoe Lane, Middle Street, Nazeing Common, Betts Lane and vice versa.

A four-day closure in School Road, Stanford Rivers, is due to take effect on August 23.

This is also for power connection works and the closure is due to apply from approximately 390m south-east of the junction with Toot Hill Road for a distance of approximately 95m in a south-easterly direction.

The alternative route will be via School Road, Toot Hill Road, Greensted Road, The Borough, Coppers Hill, Stanford Rivers Road, Romford Road, London Road and vice versa.

Tree cutting works are set to lead to the closure of part of Woolmongers Lane, High Ongar, for one day on August 25.

This is due to apply from approximately 560m north-west of its junction with Nine Ashes Road for a distance of approximately 150m in a north-easterly direction, and the diversion will be via Nine Ashes Road and vice versa.
