A man has been rushed to hospital after a crash in a busy road involving a car and cyclist.

Police and ambulance medics were called to the crash in Alderton Hill, Loughton at about 11.30am this morning.

The man was treated at the scene and then taken to Whipps Cross Hospital for care.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We sent one crews to Alderton Hill after receiving reports of a collision at around 11.35am today.

"A male patient was treated at the scene before being transported to Whipps Cross Hospital for further assessment and care."

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called at around 11:40am by ambulance colleagues.

"There was a crash in Alderton Hill, Loughton involving a car and a cyclist."
