Streets in Harlow and Loughton are among those set to be temporarily closed for roadworks, starting from this weekend.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details the extent of the closures and other measures that may be necessary while the works are carried out.

The dates of the works can vary with appropriate signs showing these at or near the relevant location and/or on the one.network website.

Theydon Road, between Epping and Theydon Bois, is due to be closed to vehicles on Sunday for underground and overhead works.

The closure will be in place from the junction with Ivy Chimneys to the junction with Little Gregories Lane, a distance of approximately 1155m.

An alternative route will be via Ivy Chimneys, Bridge Hill, Brook Road, Bower Hill, Stewards Green Road, Mount Road, Epping Lane, London Road, Passingford Bridge Roundabout, Ongar Road, Abridge Road, Coppice Row, Piercing Hill and vice versa.

Tawneys Road, Harlow, is set to be closed for 12 days from Monday to allow a new power connection to be installed.

The closure will apply from the junction with Bushey Croft to the junction with Rushes Mead, a distance of approximately 110m, and drivers should use Southern Way, Tilwicks Road, Tendring Road and vice versa instead.

A five-day closure in Mannock Drive, Loughton, is due to begin on the same day for carriageway investigation works.

The road will be closed from its junction with Burney Drive to its junction with Thatchers Close, a distance of approximately 246m.

Temporary no waiting, no loading and no stopping restrictions will also be implemented along the same stretch of road at this time.

Motorists are advised to use Mannock Drive, Goldingham Avenue, Burney Drive and vice versa instead.

Howard Way, Harlow, is set to be closed for 12 nights from August 16 while traffic island replacement and signal installation works are carried out.

The road is due to be closed to vehicles from its junction with Mowbray Road to both of its junctions with First Avenue Roundabout, a distance of approximately 145m, from 7pm to 5am each day.

The alternative route will be via First Avenue, Fifth Avenue, Velizy Avenue, Fourth Avenue, Hammarskjold Road, Edinburgh Way, Elizabeth Way, Edinburgh Gate, Howard Way and vice versa.

Part of Ployters Road, Harlow, is due to be shut to vehicles from 10pm to 5am for two nights from August 18 to allow streetlight replacement works to be carried out.

The closure will apply from the junction with Perry Road for a distance of approximately 65m in a southerly direction.

Traffic will be diverted via Ployters Road, Southern Way, Parringdon Road and vice versa.
