Ongar Town Forum is holding its first Farmers' Market and Craft Market on Sunday, August 1.

A variety of stalls will be in the Pleasance car park - next to Chipping Ongar Library - in the High Street from 10am until 2pm.

The forum intends to hold the markets regularly, on the first Sunday of the month.

Visitors travelling to Ongar via the Epping Ongar Railway can benefit from a discounted 'Railway Ramblers' rate for people who return from Ongar Station after 2pm.

Stalls already signed up include a homemade spirits company, fish merchant, cheese, handmade and personalised gifts, cards, hand painted wooded signs, plaques and more.

Ongar Town Forum chairman Martyn Pattie said: "The idea of a regular farmers' market in the town has received a good response from the traders we have already approached and we hope to welcome them to Ongar on August 1.

"It is a great way to attract people into our town who may not normally venture to Ongar, and it will be a new feature for local residents to have a wide variety of stalls on their doorstep."

Ongar Town Forum is still appealing to local individuals and representatives from local groups to help.

If you can assist in any way - or would like to find out more about having a stall at the market - please email info@ongartownforum.co.uk.
