Epping Forest’s roads policing teams were busy last weekend catching a serial speeder and seizing vehicles.

Essex Police says it is aware that road crime is among residents’ priorities for the police and on Saturday, July 10 teams began their day with speed detection activity in the Hastingwood area.

One driver was stopped for a second time in the same location in less than a month, this time travelling at 53mph in a 40mph limit.

Officers went on to seize a bike borrowed by another driver who was without the required insurance to ride it legally.

Teams in Chigwell stopped two drivers who were doing 42mph in a 30mph limit. One of the drivers had just come off a ban for speeding.

Later in the day, officers set up in Lambourne End where good compliance with the limit was observed.

The officers moved onto M11 patrols in the Loughton area, and were quickly occupied with a van being used on single and expired trade plates, which was subsequently seized for the driver not having insurance.
