An appeal has been launched after a Beckenham nursery was ransacked on Sunday evening.

Kia Mena Montessori, on the grounds of Beckenham Sports Club, was broken into late at night, reportedly by a group of teenagers.

The premises were vandalised and a small number of valuables, including iPads, were stolen, leaving children and staff “utterly bereft”.

A Just Giving page, which has already raised £500 to cover costs, reads: “Kia Mena is a wonderful pre-school that has nurtured and supported local children for many years.

“During the Covid Pandemic they went above and beyond to try and provide some normality for the children under their care and to make things a little less scary.

“The Pre-School was recently broken into and whilst only a few items were taken; the thieves took it upon themselves to callously destroy everything they could lay their hands on.

“This has left both the pre-school and the children who attend utterly bereft.

“They have provided so much love and support to local children and their families and its now our turn to pay them back in kind.

“Times are hard for many of us at the moment, please donate whatever you feel you’re able to spare.”

Kia Montessori is a privately run pre-school catering for children from two to five-years-old.

Police are yet to make any arrests, as enquiries continue.
