Beddington Lane has reopened after months of closure due to 'historical' leaks in the area.
The closure, which started on January 4, was due to essential gas main replacement work by SGN gas company.
The closure has caused disruption to residents in the Merton, Sutton and Croydon areas during the pandemic.
But SGN has since promised that residents will be free from disruption as the new pipe used in repairs has a minimum lifespan of 80-years.
A spokesperson for SGN told Your Local Guardian: "Our Beddington Lane project has now been completed and the roads affected by our work were fully reopened by Friday 9 July.
"Our work involved the essential replacement of old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure we continue to provide a safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
"The new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years, which local residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
"We’d like to thank the local community for their patience while we completed our project."
