Shocking footage has captured a man narrowly escaping death after he jumped onto the tracks at Belvedere station just seconds before a train flew past at high-speed.

The shirtless man appears to deliberately hop over the platform edge, holding a bottle of beer, at around 10.30pm on June 23.

Shocked members of the public begin to panic as they notice a train is coming, shouting "get up", while the man seems stuck on the rails.

A man in a white shirt reaches down towards him as the train approaches, pulling away a split-second before the Thameslink service rushes by.
