Police in Kent are investigating the cause of a fire deemed "suspicious" that broke out at a house in Swanscombe yesterday night (Saturday, July 3).
Fire fighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) were called to the blaze just after 11pm on Saturday, which partially burnt a home on Irving Walk in Swanscombe.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to tackle the fire while six people inside at the time escaped.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, Kent Police said, while a dog at the house when the blaze broke out sadly died in the fire.
Officers from the county police force are now investigating the origins of the fire, describing it as "suspicious".

A spokesperson for Kent Police said:
"Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire at a house in Swanscombe and appealing for witnesses.
"The cause of the fire is still under investigation but officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between the times of 10pm and midnight.
