Councillors have voiced their opposition to plans for nine new flats in Ongar.

Plans have been resubmitted to build nine two-bedroom apartments on the Ongar Bridge car dealership site in Ongar High Street.

Ongar Town Council has repeated its objections to the proposals citing a lack of provided parking and environmental worries.

The town council's planning and environment committee has underlined its previous comments made about the plans which were rejected by Epping Forest District Council last October.

The applicant states the latest proposals make several changes to the rejected scheme, including an increase in the number of parking spaces, the addition of balconies, increased provision for bicycles and electricity charging facilities.

However Thursday's town council meeting heard concerns that the amendments did not answer all the previous concerns.

The council has expressed concern that insufficient parking spaces are proposed, that the design is too cramped for the site and that the development would not enhance the conservation area.
