Franklin Mcleod, 54, of Cressingham Road, was arrested in the early hours of Thursday, June 17, and charged with her murder.

A gofundme page has been set up to cover the £5,000 cost of flying Marlene’s body to Jamaica, where she was born, so she can be buried there in accordance with her family's wishes.

A tribute by Vanessa Alderotti reads: “Marlene worked for Eurostar for over 20 years, in various roles starting from working in the Assistance team in the early days before becoming a Platform team member and eventually becoming a Train Dispatcher, one of the first women to do so, at London St Pancras International.

"Marlene was kind, caring, outgoing, extrovert and larger than life. She knew everybody and everybody seemed to know her.

“She had a big personality.

“Every day, she would greet her work colleagues with a loud ‘afternoooooon’ in that distinctive but lovable Jamaican accent that would echo around you as she would always ensure she checked how everyone was before starting her daily work duties.

“Marlene also had a mischievous sense of humour and infectious laughter.

“However down you were feeling, you could guarantee that Marlene would bring a smile to your face and brighten your day.

“She was a valuable and much loved member of the team and the organisation."

The tribute further reveals that Marlene had been due to vist Jamaica on holiday just days after she was killed.

She planned on continuing her work for Eurostar until her retirement, at which point she would return to live in her home country.

Comments have poured in from colleagues and friends with the page already raising nearly £4,500 in a week.

One person said: "At this difficult time it is very hard to adjust to your untimely passing, we talk we laughed and shared ideas, but now it’s all about the good memories we share as work colleagues and family friend.

"RIP you were a beautiful soul to us all."

Another added: "Marlene was an amazing person, full of life.

"Her voice which used to echo on the platform daily will be missed and so will her joyful spirit which would light up the room and make you instantly smile.

"To her family and friends, our sincere condolences."
