A jury has been selected in the trial of a teenager from Blackheath accused of murdering two sisters in a Wembley park.

Danyal Hussein, 19, allegedly stabbed Nicole Smallman, 27, and Bibaa Henry, 46, in the early hours of Saturday June 6 last year.

Social worker Ms Henry, from Brent in north-west London, and photographer Ms Smallman, from Harrow in north-west London, had met friends to celebrate Ms Henry's birthday.

Their bodies were found together in Fryent Country Park in Wembley, north-west London, the next day.

Hussein, of Guy Barnett Grove, Blackheath, south-east London, has denied two counts of murder and possessing a knife.

On Monday, he appeared in the dock of the Old Bailey before Mrs Justice Whipple.

A jury panel of 20 men and women was selected and sent away until Wednesday when Hussein's trial is expected to start.

The case is expected to go on for up to four weeks.

Previously, two Met Police officers were accused of taking inappropriate photographs at a double murder scene before sharing them online.

The officers indicated they will plead guilty to misconduct charges when they appeared in court.

PC Deniz Jaffer, 47, and PC Jamie Lewis, 32, are charged with misconduct in a public office following the killing of sisters Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry.
