Motorists across Epping Forest are facing disruption due to a number of temporary road closures for roadworks, starting from next week.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian outlines the closures that are due to affect residents and drivers in Chigwell, Epping and Waltham Abbey among other areas.

A section of High Road, Chigwell, is set to be shut for seven days from Monday for new water connection works to be carried out.

The road will be closed from its junction with Green Lane to its roundabout junction with Grange Farm Lane, a distance of approximately 115 metres.

The following day, an overnight closure of a section of London Road, Harlow, is due to start to allow traffic island, signs and line marking works to get underway.

London Road is due to be closed from its junction with Walfords Close to its roundabout junctions with First Avenue, a distance of approximately 240m, from 8pm to 5.30am for 11 nights.

The Orchards, Epping – from a point approximately 95m east of its junction with Bower Hill for a distance of approximately 45m in a northerly direction – is also set to be shut to vehicles from June 1 for seven days. This is for power connection works.

Also from that day, drainage works mean a lengthy section of Low Hill Road, Roydon, is scheduled to be closed for five days.

The road will be shut from its junction with Epping Road to its junction with Netherall Road, a distance of approximately 1450m.

Plans have also been published to close various lengths of road, introduce a temporary 30mph speed limit and other traffic restrictions, in Waltham Abbey for the installation of cabling.

These works are due to begin on June 3 and will be undertaken in a phased manner, affecting these sections of road:

Avery Lane from its junction with Pynest Green Lane for a distance of approximately 600m in a north-westerly direction.

Avery Lane from its junction with Pynest Green Lane to its junction with Mott Street, a distance of approximately 650m.

Manor Road from its junction with Avery Lane for a distance of approximately 290m in a south-easterly direction.

Manor Road from its junction with Church Lane to its junction with Wellington Hill, a distance of approximately 320m.

Pynest Green Lane from its junction with Avery Lane to its junction with Wellington Hill, a distance of approximately 320m.

Pynest Green Lane from a point approximately 140m south-west of its junction with Forest Side for a distance of approximately 515m in a south-westerly direction.

Wellington Hill from its junction with Pynest Green Lane for a distance of approximately 390m in a south-easterly direction.

Woodgreen Road from its junction with Honey Lane to its junction with Southend Lane, a distance of approximately 435m.

Woodgreen Road from its junction with Southend Lane for a distance of approximately 440m in a northerly direction.

Woodgreen Road from its junction with Upshire Road for a distance of approximately 495m in a south-easterly direction.
