THE Great British Spring Clean, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, runs from May 28 to June 13 and Hillingdon Council is inviting people to join one of its three community litter-picking events.
Due to a sharp increase in use of borough parks during the COVID-19 pandemic, the council has installed larger bins in busy areas and increased the frequency of visits by its litter crews.
Volunteer groups, including Hillingdon Litter Pickers, are also supported by the council to regularly collect rubbish along rivers, streets, parks and open spaces.
Litter-picking events will take place at Hillingdon House Farm on Wednesday, May 26, from 11am to 1pm, Pinn Meadows in Ruislip on Saturday, June 12, 10.30am-12pm, and Cranford Park on Sunday, June 13, 11am-1pm.
Places are limited and will need to be booked online on the council’s website.
Litter-picking activity can go ahead individually, as part of two households, or in small groups of up to six volunteers.
Last year, more than 100 bags of rubbish weighing nearly a ton were removed from Hillingdon parks and streets in the September clean-up.
