Another abduction attempt has been reported in Beckenham just 500 metres from an attempt on a young schoolboy that same afternoon.

Two schoolboys aged 8 and 11 reported to their parents that they had been followed by hooded men on Friday, April 30.

News Shopper previously reported that an 11-year-old boy was chased on his way home from school, by two men on foot and another in a car on Whitmore Road at around 4 pm.

A second abduction attempt was reported at 4.30pm on the same afternoon, where an 8-year-old boy was approached by a hooded man wearing a mask in Kelsey Park.

This Is Local London:

The Evening Standard reported that the schoolboy, from Clare House Primary School, was told to go with the man as he played in a wooded area of the park.

The man then fled the scene after the boy shouted out to a nearby friend.

It has been reported that the boy was unharmed and later saw the man escape in a black van, similar to the description reported at the first incident.

It is believed that a police investigation is under way and investigating officers will ‘keep an open mind’ to whether the two incidents are linked.

A letter sent home to parents at Clare House Primary School was seen by the Evening Standard.

Headteacher Mrs Jane Holland addressed both incidents.

She said: “I want to make you aware that it has been reported that a similar incident happened to one of our children in Kelsey Park on Friday at around 4.30pm.

“The child and some school friends were playing in the wooded area of the park when a man approached the child and told him to go with him.

"He ran away immediately but the man followed him for a short time until the child called one of his friends and the man ran away.

“The child reported that he had seen a black van drive past and the man was in it. He was reported to be wearing black with a hood up and a mask on.”
