Several roads across Epping Forest are set to temporarily close from this weekend to enable roadworks to be carried out.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details the restrictions which will affect areas including Chigwell, Harlow and Waltham Abbey.

Motorists are due to be unable to use a part of Holyfield Road, Waltham Abbey, on Sunday.

The road is due to be closed from its junction with St Leonards Road for a distance of approximately 705m in a south-westerly direction.

A section of Betts Lane, in Nazeing, is also set to be closed on Sunday.

The road will be closed from its junction with Nazeing Common for a distance of approximately 115 metres in a north-westerly direction.

The following day a three-day closure order is due to take effect in Fernhall Lane, Waltham Abbey.

This will apply from the junction with Long Street to both junctions with Cobbinsend Road/Long Street, a distance of approximately 1285m.

Also on Monday, a section of Coopersale Lane, in Theydon Garnon, is set to be shut for five days while ditch clearance works are undertaken.

The road will be closed from a point approximately 365m south-west of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 335m in a westerly direction.

A two-day closure of a length of Woodside, North Weald Bassett, is set to start on Wednesday due to water works.

Woodside is due to be shut from a point approximately 300m north-west of its junction with Epping Road for a distance of approximately 75m in a north-westerly direction.

An order to allow the phased closure of two long stretches of road in Chigwell is due to take effect from Thursday for superfast broadband cabling to be installed.

Pudding Lane is due to be shut to vehicles from its junction with Abridge Road for a distance of approximately 1190m in a south-easterly direction.

Roding Lane is also set to be closed from its junction with Chigwell Rose to its junction with High Road, a distance of approximately 1230m.

If approved, the order will last for 18 months, but the dates when the work will be carried out will signed and/or displayed on the one.network website.

When the work is carried out, a 30mph speed limit will be introduced on the specified roads, along with temporary no waiting, loading or stopping restrictions.
