A list of candidates running for a seat in the upcoming Chase ward by-election has been revealed.
Five candidates are vying to succeed Labour’s Vikki Pite, who stepped down from her role as ward councillor last year.
Local elections were postponed following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, amid concerns over its impact on campaigning and voting.
But with restrictions gradually being lifted, voters in London will head to the polls on Thursday, May 6, to take part in by-elections, which will run alongside the mayoral and London Assembly contests.
The candidates standing in the Chase by-election are:
- Lynne Catherine Davies – Green Party
- Mira Glavardanov – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
- Chris James – Labour Party
- Guy Russo – Liberal Democrat
- Andrew James Thorp – Conservative Party
The 2018 local elections were a close-run contest in Chase, where the top Tory candidate came just 60 votes short of winning a seat.
Two more Enfield Council by-elections are due to take place on May 6, in Southbury and Jubilee wards.
The council is currently made up of 38 Labour members, 16 Conservatives, five Community First councillors and one independent member, with three vacant posts.
