FORMER Royal Marine Commandos James O’Shea, 29, and Josh Keeley, 29, both from Ruislip, have embarked on an ambitious challenge to raise money for Rock2Recovery.
The organisation aims to save and change the lives of those in the armed forces, veterans and their families who are affected by stress.
It aims to inspire, coach and motivate people towards a more positive future.
During April, the ex-Marines are taking part in a Run To Your Oppo challenge – a term used in the Marines to describe a close friend.
James and Josh will each be running 120 miles, equivalent to the distance between Ruislip and the location of their ex-Marine Oppos who live in Hastings and Derby.
The idea came from ex-Marine Jack Elliot, whose former ‘oppo’ died after suffering with his mental health for a number of years.
Personal trainer James O’Shea said: “Many of our ex-colleagues have battled with PTSD and other mental health issues, and tragically we’ve lost several friends. We’ve already raised more than £3,000 and would love to get that up to £5,000.”
