Lengthy sections of road in Epping Forest are set to be temporarily closed from later this month while roadworks are carried out.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s Guardian details the closures, some of which will be more than a mile long, affecting roads in Waltham Abbey, Loughton, Nazeing and Chigwell.

The order for these works is due to take effect on April 22 and will last for 18 months. However, the works will be undertaken in a phased manner and the dates will be specified on the one.network website.

The sections of road due to be closed are:

Paternoster Hill, Upshire Road, Horseshoe Hill, Waltham Abbey – from its junction with Paternoster Hill service road to its junction with Pick Hill, a distance of approximately 1257 metres.

Highbridge Street/Leverton Way/Quaker Lane/Sun Street, Waltham Abbey – from its junction with Abbeyview Roundabout to its junction with Sewardstone Road, a distance of approximately 709m.

Abbeyview Roundabout, Waltham Abbey – whole roundabout, a distance of approximately 200m.

Carrol Hill/The Uplands, Loughton – from the junction with A121 to the junction with Church Lane, a distance of approximately 871m.

Hoe Lane, Nazeing – from its junction with Betts Lane to its junction with Palmers Grove, a distance of approximately 2220m.

Back Lane and Betts Lane, Nazeing – from its junction with Common Road to its junction with Common Road (Loop Road), a distance of approximately 1470m.

Pudding Lane, Chigwell – from its junction with A113 Abridge Road to its junction with A1112 Gravel Lane, a distance of approximately 2285m.

Bumbles Green Lane, Nazeing – from its junction with Waltham Road to end of highway boundary, a distance of approximately 255m.

Nazeing Common, Nazeing – from outside King Harold Cottage to outside The Sun Inn, a distance of approximately 1627m.

On the same day a separate order is due to come into force for the temporary closure of Minchen Road/The Stow in Harlow.

This will apply from the junction with Momples Road to the junction with Howard Way, a distance of approximately 809m.

This order is also due to last for 18 months and exact dates when the work will be carried out will be posted on one.network
