Health bosses have assured people waiting for their second Covid-19 vaccine they will receive it within the allotted 12-week timeframe.

A spokesman for Harrow Council said evidence from the local clinical commissioning group (CCG) showed the vaccine delivery in the borough remains on track.

It comes amid reports of some Harrow residents’ second vaccine appointment dates being pushed back.

This follows on from comments by NHS staff at a council health and wellbeing board meeting in March which acknowledged there is likely to be a dip in the number of vaccine doses being administered across the country.

However, the council spokesman clarified that, while there may be some date alterations, residents expecting their second jabs will not miss the wider cut off date.

He said: “Harrow is supporting the vaccine rollout and has been informed by North West London CCG that all residents are being offered their second vaccine within 12 weeks as per government guidelines.

“Some residents who were given a date for their second vaccine – at the time of their first – have had to have their date changed in line with vaccine deliveries and within 12 weeks.”

In a Harrow Council newsletter sent out last month, its director of public health, Carole Furlong, said there would be “enough vaccines to guarantee that everyone in Harrow can have their second dose”.

She added supply issues announced by the Government meant some changes to the rollout had been necessary but that health providers would “ensure everyone gets their second dose when it is needed”.
