Rotarian Pesh Kapasiawala’s extensive community work has been recognised by winning Loughton Town Council’s 2021 Citizenship Award.

Cllr Stella Murphy, Loughton town mayor, made the announcement at the annual town meeting, which was held virtually via the Zoom digital platform on Wednesday of last week.

Cllr Murphy said that Pesh was nominated for the award for his dedication and tireless work and involvement in local Loughton charities including The Loughton Men’s Institute, The Loughton Memory Café, and the Yes Partnership. He is also a governor of Roding Valley High School and a past president of the Loughton, Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell Rotary Club.

More recently, Pesh established 3food4u which was initially set up by bringing together a number of chefs who supplied ready cooked meals to vulnerable members of the community and keyworkers, something that was very much appreciated at the beginning of the Covid pandemic.

This has now grown and 3food4u has become a valuable and much-needed service, providing free food and clothes during the award.

Tracy Braniff, who nominated Pesh for the award, said: “Pesh is without doubt a valuable asset in our community not only for the vast range of charitable works that he does but also for the warm, friendly, listening disposition he carries with him”.

Pesh will receive a cheque for £250 for his chosen charity 3food4u and the presentation of an engraved rose bowl.
