Over £200,000 has been secured for a range of improvements for six Greenwich Line stations.
MP Matthew Pennycook published the funding announcement on Twitter, saying that after "lobbying hard" back in 2019, he was 'pleased' the Greenwich Line would be getting improvements.
The funding comes as a result of Thameslink's "unacceptable" part in the May 2018 timetable disaster, after which the Government ordered them to contribute £15 million to "tangible improvements for passengers."
The Passenger Benefit Fund Programme (PBF) as it is known, has now disclosed the local schemes being delivered at stations within Greenwich.
In a letter to Greenwich MP Matthew Pennycook, transport secretary Grant Shapps said he was "really pleased with the investment" and the volume of schemes funded, adding that they "will have a positive impact and be of real benfit to regular users of the stations."
Covid-19 has caused "significant challenges" to the delivery of the upgrades, but GTR still plans to have delivered the vast majority of them by the end of April 2021, with the remainder being delivered by September.
