A number of outdoor cinema events have been announced for Croydon this summer as the borough looks to enjoy the aftermath of months of lockdown.

Wandle Park will host Adventure Cinema's giant screen on September 5 and 6, the outdoor cinema company announced, as part of a UK-wide tour over the warmer months 2021 holds in store.

On Sunday September 5, the park will host 2017's The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman.

A day later on Monday, September 6 will see more tunes with a Grease singalong, with both performances starting at 8pm.

Adventure cinema said a number of Covid safety regulations would be put in place to help minimize any change of transmission of the virus amid the ongoing pandemic.

"When entering each venue, groups will be guided to their picnic space by friendly stewards, who will seat people safely away from other groups.

"Other measures include wide aisles to the left, right and centre of the event space, allowing people to safely move around, and regularly cleaned, individual toilet units with hand sanitising stations outside.

"So whether picnicking with pals or enjoying a big family outing, visitors can rest assured that they’re in a safe space."

Ben Lovell, Co-Director, Adventure Cinema, meanwhile described the company's excitement at getting the tour on the road.

"We had great fun putting on the UK’s biggest ever drive-in cinema tour last summer, and now we can’t wait to travel all over the country once again, this time with our open-air cinema season.

"Just like with the drive-in shows, we’ve worked very hard to ensure that these events are safe and lots of fun for all the family.

"We’ve got some amazing films to show in some truly incredible spaces, and we’re excited to offer guests two things they may have desperately missed in recent months: the cinema and the great outdoors."
