A man in his 60s has been declared dead in Beckenham High Street after it is suspected he fell from a height on Monday morning.

Police say they were called to the centre of Beckenham in Bromley around 6:25am on February 22 after a suspected fall from height.

The London Ambulance Service called Met officers to an alleyway behind the high street's Sainsbury's store where a man was found unresponsive.

The victim, in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed, and the death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Police were called at 06:25hrs on Monday, 22 February by London Ambulance Service to the High Street, Beckenham, area after a man was found unresponsive following a suspected fall from height.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. At the scene a male, believed to be aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at 06:41hrs. His next of kin have been notified.

"The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, but is not thought to be suspicious."
