An art competition has been launched by Broadway Living, the development arm of Ealing Council, to celebrate the opening of Central Square in Ealing, its latest collection of homes at Copley W7.

Both children and young adults are being encouraged to get creative and take part in the local competition by illustrating their favourite place in Ealing, to be in with a chance of winning themselves an Amazon voucher as well as art supplies for their schools.

Broadway Living is an award-winning developer in Ealing, one of the first local authorities tasked with developing homes on behalf of the council.

David Colley, Regeneration Manager for Ealing Council, said: “Residents really have been the heart of what we have been trying to do at Copley right from the very beginning.

“People have been really interested with what is going on at Copley, so we have tried to work as closely as we can with the local community.

“We are particularly interested in bringing the good side out of the local community, because quite often if you are living on an estate all you hear is negative comments and we are trying to bring out all the positives.

“We have had involvement with the local schools right from the beginning, particularly Castle Bar Primary School, as we think it’s important that schools reinforce with the children that we take building site safety very seriously.

“I think the art competition is fantastic for children during lockdown. It gives parents something light-hearted to work on through home-schooling. It gives them a chance to go out and explore their local area and have pride in their community.

“The art competition is to increase appreciation and understanding of Ealing’s local area and enable children to explore their locality.

“Ealing in particular has a lot of people in the borough who really appreciate art and we want to make people aware that this part of Ealing Borough is actually a vibrant place.”

The competition closes midnight on Friday 26 February, and winners are to be announced Friday 5 March. Entries will be grouped by age – infant, junior and secondary with a winner chosen per age group.

Winners in the two primary-age categories will each receive a £25 voucher for Amazon, along with art supplies to the value of £250 for their school, while winners at secondary level will each receive a £50 voucher for Amazon, along with art supplies to the value of £250 for their school.
