A GROUP of young people today (17) spoke to Virendra Sharma, the Ealing Southall MP, about issues they are facing during lockdown.

They also discussed what opportunities they think will help them thrive at an online meeting organised by the Jack Petchey Foundation.

It follows a survey in which more than 6,000 young people from London and Essex took part.

Ten young people came together on Zoom with a group of four politicians, including Mr Sharma, to discuss the most recent findings from the Foundation’s COVID-19 youth survey.

Mr Sharma said: “I was thrilled to hear some of their inspirational stories.”

Calum Thorne, 17, said: “Being able to speak to decision makers with the ability to make meaningful change was an incredible opportunity.”

Sir Jack founded the  Petchey Foundation in 1999 to recognise the positive contributions young people make to society.
