Sutton ranks eighth for the area with the best schools in England, according to a recent survey.

The borough has the eighth highest percentage of schools rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, standing at 42%.

Real estate company Zoopla said that being close to an outstanding school is a "top priority" for many buyers with young families.

The company has revealed the lengths parents are willing to go, to ensure their children get the best education.

A survey of 1,000 parents was taken to determine what compromises they are willing to take to live within the right catchment area.

UK parents are willing to spend, on average, up to an extra £28,986 to live closer to a school with an Outstanding rating.

The average property price in Sutton is £385,000.

Zoopla's recent survey found that 1 in 10 (10.2%) parents have used a relative’s address to get their child into an Outstanding school.

More than 1 in 5 parents (21.3%) admitted they would downsize to be in the right school’s catchment area.

Kensington and Chelsea London ranked top for the best rated schools in England with 67% 'Outstanding'.

This was followed by Rushmore and Woking in the South East and Hammersmith and Fulham in London.
