Coronavirus infection rates in Enfield and Haringey are now close to the UK average following further steep falls.

Both boroughs saw their infection rates drop by 40 per cent during the seven days to February 3 compared to the previous seven-day period.

Enfield saw 215 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people – down from 360 during the week to January 27.

Haringey recorded 201 new cases of the virus per 100,000 people – down from 333 during the previous seven days.

It brings both boroughs close to the UK average infection rate of 209 new Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people.

Enfield Town South and Bush Hill Park was the worst-hit region of Enfield during the seven days to February 3, with 32 new cases of the virus, according to a Government map of “middle layer super output areas”.

Broomfield Park (31 cases), Lower Edmonton South (29) and Carterhatch and Forty Hall (29) also witnessed relatively high case numbers.

Cockfosters and Hadley Wood (10 cases) and Southgate Green (11) recorded the lowest number of new Covid-19 cases.

In Haringey, Tottenham Lea Valley was the worst-hit region, with 32 new Covid-19 cases during the seven days to February 3.

Harringay Warehouse District and Vartry (28 cases) and Tottenham Green East (27) also saw relatively high case numbers.

The area of Haringey with the lowest number of new Covid-19 cases was Highgate Wood, with fewer than three. Crouch End West (3 cases) and Muswell Hill North (4) also saw low numbers.

The latest infection rate data is based on figures from Public Health England published on the Government’s online coronavirus dashboard. It is subject to slight variations, as the figures are continually updated.
