A COVID-19 Relief Fund to help staff and patients at Harefield Hospital during the pandemic is launched today (8).
It aims to buy life-saving equipment for those needing urgent care after an increase in critical care demand.
Gill Raikes, Chief Executive of Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity, said: “Our brave NHS colleagues are working around the clock looking after some of the most ill COVID-19 patients and we are aiming to provide for them the equipment they urgently need.
“This equipment will help our NHS colleagues not only care for the current wave of patients but support them into the future as they deal with the long-term challenges of this deadly disease.”
The charity aims to raise £100,000 for equipment and staff welfare at both hospitals. This will include:
- Staff wellbeing packages, including drinks, hand cream, massages and treatments
- An onsite Patient Experience Coordinator
- £1,750 to buy one of 20 humidifiers
- £7,514 to buy a hand-held blood gas analyser
- £49,000 for ECMO equipment, which does the work of a patient’s lungs
