A FOUR-months-old pup called Dougie has started the new year with a new home and a new name.

Dougie – who was called Bob – became the first dog rehomed from Dogs Trust Harefield Rehoming Centre this month.

After just a few weeks as part of the family, his new owners, Amy and Terry Davies, say they can’t remember what life was like without him.

Amy said: “Since we moved out of central London last February, we had often talked about adopting a dog.

“We wanted to rescue because we knew we could offer a good home to a dog who needed it.

“Dougie has quickly made himself right at home.

“He likes to ignore all the new toys we bought him and play instead with our slippers and any cardboard box he can get his paws on!

“Chorleywood Common is fast becoming his new favourite playground and he absolutely loves playing fetch and getting spoilt with cuddles.”

In 2020, the Harefield team found forever homes for 382 dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages, with greyhounds, crossbreeds and jack russell terriers being the top three choices.

A total of 104 dogs also continued to enjoy home comforts, thanks to the centre’s volunteer foster carers.
