Hello, my name’s Rafiki and I’m seven-years-old and an ex-racing greyhound. I’m well looked after by the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) but am still looking for a comfy couch to call my own now I’ve retired.

I can be nervous of some new situations, people and dogs, so need an owner who’s got time to help me be less worried about the world.

I’m super-friendly and love human company and attention. I love to play - squeaky toys and tennis balls to chase are my favourites.

I need an experienced owner and cat-free home with adults or families with children aged at least 12. I’d prefer to be the only dog in the home, at least while settling in.

You might think we greyhounds need lots of exercise but we’re real couch potatoes who only need half-hour walks twice a day and walk nicely on the lead. We’re built for speed, not stamina.

We greyhounds are low-maintenance, intelligent and laid-back dogs.

We’re as good with children as any dog breed and better than most, because of our characteristic gentleness and even temperament. I’ve got so much love to give when I finally find my own special human.

If you can give me the loving home I deserve, email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2) to arrange a visit. I can’t wait to meet you.
