Police have released an appeal to the public after a woman with learning difficulties was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man in Forest Hill last week.

The victim, in her 20s, was reported missing from Lewisham on the evening of December 27, but returned home in the early hours of Monday, December 28, with a man who was not know to her.

Officers are now keen to speak to the suspect, a black man around 25-30 years old, and are asking anyone with information to get in touch immediately.

The woman arrived back home early on December 28, after which the police were called and the woman alleged that she had been sexually assaulted by the man, who had already left.

She stated that between midnight and 4:30am, the man took her to his flat in the Forest Hill area, near to where she lives, and sexually assaulted her.

It is not known how she met the man, but he is described as of slim build, approximately 5ft10 and wearing a black coat, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw a man matching that description walking in the Forest Hill area, with a woman, between midnight and 04:30hrs on Monday, 28 December. Any information, no matter how small, could be important.
