The rate of infection is falling in 31 London boroughs as the capital prepares to emerge from lockdown and into Tier 2 restrictions.

However, one borough, Waltham Forest, has recorded an increase in infections.

Between November 16 and 26 – the latest available accurate data – the east London borough posted 582 new infections, up from 534 the week before.

The rate of infection climbed to 210.1 cases per 100,000 people, an 18-point increase.

Every other London borough has recorded a fall in the number of new cases, but many still have high rates of infection than Waltham Forest.

East London is home the three highest rates of infection in the capital.

Redbridge has reported 889 new infections in the seven days to November 26. The week before it recorded 915 and was hovering just below a rate of infection of 300. The rate of infection now stands at 291.3.

Havering, which experienced the largest drop in new cases in the capital, still has the second worst rate of infection, 268.9, which equates to 698 new infections.

The week before the borough reported 1,000 infections – a rate of 385.3.

Barking and Dagenham has the third worst rate of infection, 244.2 down from 258.8.

Four boroughs have reported rates of infection below 100: Camden, Richmond upon Thames, Lewisham, and Westminster.
