Three males have been arrested in an operation cracking down on the thefts of catalytic converters in Bexley.
A rise in catalytic converter thefts have plagued south east London in recent months, with spates of roads being targeted, hospital car parks in Greenwich and Bexley, and more.
Well a police operation involving a number of local teams has been established to target the rise in crime.
And the crackdown has experienced immediate success. In a 'multi-agency operation' on Thursday, November 26, the team managed to arrest three males.
The arrests took place in Watery Lane in Sidcup, and saw officers from MPS Longlands, MPS St Marys, MPS Blackfen, MPS Blendon and Kent Police Sevenoaks take part.
Hopefully the Bexley police force will help put an end to these thefts.
On November 15, police reported that a catalytic converter had been stolen from a VW Golf at Queen Mary Hospital.
Another case was reported in a Morrisons car park on November 2 in Sidcup.
Welling Police has also warned that "we as a borough are currently seeing a rise in Catalytic Converter theft," and shared some advice on how to prevent it.
The spate of thefts has also spread to Bromley, and led to Operation Baswood, led by Bromley, Croydon and Sutton MPS, which has also seen arrests in the past week.
A crackdown also took place in Lewisham in August, leading to cars being seized and arrests being made.
