A woman received racial abuse while being physically assaulted in a supermarket.

Police were called to a shop on the Tottenham Hale Retail Park on August 11 at around 8pm.

A woman, in her 20s, had suffered minor injuries after another woman attempted to take her mobile phone.

Officers said that the victim was queuing at the till when the woman physically assaulted her and began shouting racial abuse.

As the victim attempted to call police the woman tried to steal her phone claiming it was her own.

The victim's phone was returned when the shop's security intervened and the woman left the scene on a bike.

Detective Constable Natalie Starkey said: "We take all allegations of racism and assault very seriously and my team is keen to speak to anyone who was involved or who witnessed this incident.

"I would also appeal to the woman in the image or anyone who knows her to contact us."
