Former Prime Minister and traffic cone supremo John Major has declared that the UK is no longer a superpower.

So long as we retain a nuclear deterrent we remain a super power.

Only by foolishly following the CND (letters November 12 ) would we cease to be whilst exposing ourselves to unknown global threats.
