A new BMX track has opened up to give riders a chance to get on their wheels.

The pump track opened at Kenton Recreation Ground on October 31, offering a track from novices to skilled riders.

Beginners would go through a green loop track, intermediate riders could train on the blue loop, whilst experienced riders can go through the red loop.

While the track is open to the public, it is also home to the new Harrow bike-club community group that launched, which will run weekly sessions as well as outreach sessions with local schools, organisations and community groups.

Cllr Keith Ferry, Regeneration, Planning & Employment Portfolio Holder, said: “This fantastic new facility provides a great new facet to the Borough’s leisure offering. It will also encourage people to keep fit as well as hone their skills on this brilliant new state-of-the-art BMX course.

“At a time when we are rightly encouraging cycling and the undoubted benefits of good physical and mental health and fitness this is a very welcome new resource for the local community.”

The new track was introduced as a conjoined effort with Harrow Council, Access Sport, The London Marathon Charitable Trust and the Places to Ride programme.

Harrow bike-club hosted a fully-booked open day event to showcase the new track.

All sessions are said to be Covid-19 risk assessed, but the club says they are currently awaiting further guidance before deciding on further facilitated sessions.
