A permanent coronavirus test centre has opened near a fire station in Hendon.

This is the second fixed testing unit to open in Barnet and can be found in the Fenella Building car park of Middlesex University which is opposite the Hendon Fire Station.

It will operate from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week. The site is easily accessible without a car and will be able to provide up to 360 tests a day.

The first permanent testing centre was launched last month at Watling Community Centre in Edgware.

Vice-Chancellor of Middlesex University, professor Nic Beech said: "We are very happy to support Barnet Public Health by enabling use of our campus for a Covid-19 testing centre.

"We are sure people living locally will be as pleased as we are to be able to help provide such a vital and accessible service for the community, our staff and students in Hendon.

"The London Borough of Barnet and the local public health team have worked in great collaboration with the university throughout the pandemic and this is another crucial example of the advantage to the whole community of strong local partnership."

People who want to book a test are advised to not phone the university or Watling Community Centre to book an appointment and to instead book via the Government website.

People have also been asked only to book an appointment if you have one or more of the coronavirus symptoms.
