A stolen white van was found in Herons Wood last week.

The van was discovered on Thursday, October 22 by a community support officer.

Database analysis identified the vehicle had been stolen the day before from a delivery driver.

The delivery driver had left his keys in the van while completing a delivery when an opportunistic crook walked past and saw their opportunity to steal the vehicle.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for Essex Police said: “Yesterday PCSO Gibson whilst out on patrol came across this van that was located within Herons Wood. After completing some checks, it was found to have been stolen from the day before from a delivery driver that had left his keys within the van whilst making a delivery.

“We urged to everyone that if you are leaving your car to do anything, even if it takes a few seconds, remove your keys and secure your vehicle.”
