FOUR fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a blaze at a recycling centre in Station Approach, Greenford, yesterday evening (20).
Part of a mechanical waste compactor was damaged and around 40 tons of waste material destroyed. There were no injuries.
Station Officer Patrick Flynn, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and stopped it spreading any further.”
The brigade was called at 8.50 and the fire was under control by 9.21. Crews from Northolt and Wembley were at the scene.
The cause is under investigation.
