A MOTHER of three says she has been living amongst mice for two years after her housing complaints fell on deaf ears.

Morden mum Lorna Tait, who has been living in the property under Sutton Housing Partnership ( SHP) says she captures between four to six mice every night.

"I sit and watch them run around my house every evening. When I lift my children's bed to hoover, they run out from under there and into another room," says Lorna.

After two years of living with rodents, Lorna says Sutton Environmental services finally agreed to contact Sutton Housing Partnership to 'resolve the issue'.

"Over a month ago, I contacted them again after the mice had chewed above the plug sockets in my living room and chewed through the ceiling. The light fitting was left hanging," she said.

Since alerting the housing association about the wiring, work has been carried out in the loft which is where the mice ‘were trying to nest'. However, Lorna and her family say they continue to spend nights listening to mice running in and out of their bedrooms as they struggle to reach SHP.

She said: "It’s ridiculous, Sutton Housing Partnership doesn't seem to care that my belongings are being eaten.

It’s a living nightmare for us. Our health has been affected, not to mention our mental health.

"I have called every day for the past 10 days trying to find out when they are coming back.

"When I did get through to someone, I was told that nothing else could be done, despite previously being told there would be a phased action plan for the rest of the house."

A spokesperson for Sutton Housing Partnership said: “We work in a partnership between SHP staff, Council officers and contractors to provide the most responsive housing service possible for residents and leaseholders.
