Part of a Tube station car park is up for sale to developers, provided they can meet an affordable housing target of 50 per cent.

Transport for London (TfL) has been advertising the eastern part of the car park at Queensbury Station, which is available on a 250-year lease.

This section covers about half of the overall site, including approximately 37 parking bays.

TfL says Brent Council identified the site for potential residential redevelopment alongside car parking, with an “indicative capacity” of 36 homes.

According to the advert, any submission would be “subject to planning offers for 50 per cent affordable”.

Developers would also have to consider the surrounding area, which, TfL notes, comprises buildings from two to four storeys, with nearby homes predominantly terraced and semi-detached.

Earlier this year, Brent Council twice rejected plans to build more than 50 new flats in Sudbury Town Station car park.

There have also been campaigns from residents in neighbouring Harrow against plans to build on similar car parks in Stanmore, Canons Park and Rayners Lane.

These latter schemes are part of the Mayor of London’s plans to make use of sites perceived as underutilised to provide new, affordable homes.

However, there are concerns around the impact they could have on the surrounding areas’ skylines and infrastructure.
