Police investigating the assault of a man in Croydon who died weeks later have released images of four men they hope to speak with as part of their investigation.

On Wednesday (September 30), detectives from the Met Police released CCTV captures showing four men they are now seeking as part of their investigation into the attack on 40-year-old Simon Whisker.

On July 1 on London Road in Croydon, around 1.30am, Simon was involved in a fight with four males, who punched and stamped on him.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated and discharged.

Approximately two weeks later, on Monday, July 13, he was taken to hospital where he died in the early hours of the morning.

Simon's next of kin continue to be supported by the Met who are investigating the incident, but who stressed that they are not treating their inquiries as a murder investigation so far.

A "special" post mortem has taken place after Simon's death and police are still waiting on the findings.

There have been no arrests in the case so far but police are appealing for help in tracing the four men visible in the released images.

"The victim became involved in an altercation with a group of males and was viciously assaulted," Detective Constable Jo Cheung, from the South Area CID, said.

"We are not treating this as a murder inquiry at this time. We just want to find out who was responsible for the attack on Simon.

"I am asking the public to contact us if they recognise any of these males."
