A mother has spoken out after her 11-year-old boy was chased and attacked by a gang of teenagers in Putney last week.

Emily Reed’s son was returning from a Karate class on the Upper Richmond Road at 7pm on Tuesday (22 Sept), when he was confronted by a group of boys on bikes.

“Our son and his friend were approached by a gang of at least four older boys on bikes at the junction of Charlwood Road and Norroy Road.

“They chased our boys down Charlwood Road, Clarendon Drive, down Gamlen Road and onto Hotham Road. During the chase our son and his friend lost their shoes.

“When our son reached our house one boy held him and then his friend punched and threw our son to the ground," she said.

Mrs Reed continued that the boys - who she presumed to be 11-13 years old - were not afraid of adults.

“Our neighbour came out and the boys didn’t stop or run away. When I came out one of the boys said don’t f**k with me.”

"They said they had weapons which they were not afraid to use," she added.

The Putney mum has shared CCTV images of the incident, in the hopes of identifying the attackers.

She said she wants other parents to be aware of the dangers kids face.

“It was his first experience of independence - as we usually escort him to and from all classes.”

"Our son and his friend are, understandably, traumatised, scared and our son is sore, his head aches and his face is swollen. This is terrifying," she said.
