A man is set to appear in court charged with a string of offences after a gun was reportedly pointed from a moving car.

A huge police operation took place across Southend on September 22 after the incident and police were called to Southchurch Avenue in Southend, at around 4.30pm.

A high speed police chase raced through the town, with residents of Leigh reporting they saw two marked and one unmarked car pursuing the suspects.

Three men were arrested and Russell Burgess, 22 of Stonehill Road, Leigh has been charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failure to stop and possession of a knife.

The next court date has not yet been set. The two other men in their 20s were bailed until 13 October.
