Four fire engines and 25 firefighters have been rushed to the scene of a flat fire in Thornton Heath this morning (Tuesday, September 22).
The blaze broke out in a six-room flat on London Road in the Croydon suburb earlier this morning, prompting a serious emergency response from fire crews.
LFB said they were called initially at 8.17am and attended the scene shortly afterwards with over two dozen crew.
Miraculously there were no reported injuries as a result of the fire, which LFB said has since been brought under control.
Speaking earlier this morning, a spokesperson for the city-wide fire service said:
"Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on London Road in Thornton Heath.
"Part of a six-roomed flat on the first floor of the building was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
"The Brigade was called at 0817 and the fire was under control by 0859. Fire crews from Norbury and Croydon fire stations attended the scene."
While the fire has now been made safe, it causes remains a mystery at present, and LFB said they were now investigating its origins.
