COMMUNITY groups in Hillingdon are being urged by FareShare, the food distribution charity, to join the thousands already receiving regular donations from supermarkets.

FareShare connects communities to supermarkets in their area with surplus food.

Tesco, ASDA and Waitrose all donate via the FareShare Go App, text or email, and organisations in Hillingdon are being urged to register.

One charity already benefiting from FareShare Go is the Shree Jalaram Temple in Greenford, a Hindu temple and community centre.

Trustee Mansukh Morjaria said: “We have carried out 6,200 collections from Tesco stores and fed more than 280,000 people in need, including rough sleepers, homeless people, the elderly, families in hardship and those in homeless hostels.”
